Google top advertisers infographic

January 24, 2012

A great infographic put together bye Wordstream, one of the bigger Google resellers around. They’ve basically mined their enormous adwords database to figure out where all of Google’s money is coming from, and even though the figures are estimates only, it helps to give a fair bit of insight into the Google empire.

Given that 96% of revenue comes from advertising, it becomes very apparent why they are fighting so hard to create other revenue streams, including transactional ones. Unsurprisingly, finance & insurance are high on their category list, although personally I actually would have thought this would have been a higher proportion.

In the jobs & education sector, the University of Phoenix seems to have an enormous reliance on SEM; while I don’t know anything about that school, $47M is a heck of a lot of money to try and recruit students!

Love to hear any commentary / discussion in the comments box below.
