About Me
I live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney Australia, near world famous Manly beach, and have spent my career helping push new media technologies into the mainstream.
Originally from an advertising / marketing background, I love to see what makes a business tick and help improve and/or grow it by understanding how all the pieces of the puzzle come together.
I started in newspapers and helped them get digital. I worked with digital search and directory based online properties to help businesses establish more meaningful and social relationships with customers. I helped a startup called community engine create a social commerce marketplace, integrating social media and ecommerce strategies to great effect.
I have a passion for the opportunities businesses at scale have with mobile technology, and in particular – near field communication (NFC), which will soon become a part of our everyday interactions with the world around us.
I recently started leading the Australian practice for NM Incite, a joint venture between one of the world’s biggest and best research companies and one of the world’s biggest and best management consulting firms. We actively seek out strategic and research based insights via social media.
I’m an avid NBA fan and as per the title of this blog – I like to question the status quo, to make the most of the world around me. Stay Tuned!

Nice to meet you yesterday John at #swarmsyd – all the best in your endeavours and keep up the excellent blog. If you ever have need of some well-priced Facebook pages, let me know – it’s the creative fun part of what I do

If you choose not to leave this blatant self-promotion comment here (but keep the details for your reference), I won’t be offended – I just couldn’t find an email address for you….
Bestest,

No problems James, a pleasure to meet you too!
Amazing blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any tips? Bless you!
